Insurance & finance

3 projects
02Finance · Payments

End-to-end financial products

The challenge

Covering the entire financial chain (financing application, approval, payments, collections, reconciliation) without assembling a patchwork of vendors that don’t talk to each other.

What we built

  • An online financing application journey: information gathering, supporting documents, decision and file tracking.
  • Processing of payments and pre-authorized debits, with schedules, retries and refunds.
  • Automated reconciliation between payments received, accounts receivable and accounting entries.
  • Financial-grade security: encryption, segregation of duties and audit logs on every transaction.
  • APIs to integrate these functions into partner platforms.

Technologies and approach

  • REST API
  • Payments
  • Payment schedules
  • Automated reconciliation
  • Encryption
  • Segregation of duties
  • Audit logs

Who is it for? Companies that finance, collect or disburse payments and want to control the entire chain.

03Insurance · Quoting

Insurance quoting tools

The challenge

Producing a quote means cross-referencing rating rules, questionnaires and exceptions that change often. Done by hand, it is slow and hard to keep consistent.

What we built

  • A configurable rating rules engine: rules evolve without redeploying the application.
  • Dynamic questionnaires that only ask the relevant questions based on previous answers.
  • Generation of quotes and documents ready to send to the client.
  • A version history for every quote: who changed what, and when.
  • APIs to feed brokers’ and insurers’ systems.

Technologies and approach

  • Rules engine
  • Dynamic forms
  • Document generation
  • Version history
  • REST API

Who is it for? Brokers, insurers and managing general agents who want to quote faster, consistently and traceably.

Cybersecurity & access

04Cybersecurity · Products

Cybersecurity product development

The challenge

Turning a real security need into a product that can be deployed, maintained and sold, with the rigour expected of a security tool.

What we built

  • Products designed from architecture to go-to-market, with security built in from the design stage.
  • Lightweight agents on workstations and servers, connected to a central console.
  • Event collection and correlation, with alerts and reports for operations teams.
  • Signed updates and controlled deployment across the entire fleet.

Technologies and approach

  • Security by design
  • Agents
  • Central console
  • Event correlation
  • Signed updates
  • Audit logs

Who is it for? Organizations with a specific security need that no product on the market properly covers.

05Cybersecurity · Remote accessHDCE product

Terminal Server access protection

The challenge

An exposed terminal server is a constant target: repeated login attempts, stolen passwords, access from anywhere.

What we built

  • Filtering of inbound connections even before sign-in: only authorized sources reach the server.
  • Two-factor authentication on terminal server protocols (RDP), without changing users’ habits.
  • Automatic blocking of repeated attempts and logging of every connection.
  • These products belong to HDCE: already in production, they are deployed at our clients’ sites with no custom development.

Technologies and approach

  • RDP / Terminal Server
  • Inbound connection filtering
  • Two-factor authentication
  • Automatic blocking
  • Audit logs

Who is it for? Any company whose employees or suppliers connect remotely to a terminal server.

06Cybersecurity · Sensitive environments

Real-time security analysis of high-security environments

The challenge

In a highly sensitive environment, controlling access is not enough: you must be able to prove, after the fact, exactly what each person did.

What we built

  • Video recording of the sessions of every person who connects.
  • Real-time measurement and detection of unusual activity, with alerts.
  • Timestamping of every event and tamper-protected audit logs.
  • Session search and replay for investigations and audits.

Technologies and approach

  • Session video recording
  • Real-time detection
  • Timestamping
  • Audit logs
  • Session replay

Who is it for? Organizations that host critical data and must prove who did what, and when.

Infrastructure & cloud

2 projects
07Cloud · Automation

Cloud environment provisioning

The challenge

Building each environment of a client project by hand (network, servers, access, backups) takes days and creates drift from one environment to the next.

What we built

  • Automated provisioning of complete environments from templates described in code (Infrastructure as Code).
  • Network, machines, accounts and access rules created identically with every deployment.
  • Reproducible development, test and production environments, cleanly decommissioned when no longer needed.
  • Integration with the development teams’ deployment tools.

Technologies and approach

  • Infrastructure as Code
  • Automated provisioning
  • Templates
  • Reproducible environments
  • REST API

Who is it for? Teams that frequently deploy new environments and want each one to be identical, documented and secure.

08Secure access · Cloud

Locked-down workstations for a cloud environment

The challenge

Providing access to a cloud environment without the user’s computer becoming an entry point: no free browsing, no destination to choose.

What we built

  • Kiosk-mode workstations: at startup, the computer can only reach a single gateway.
  • The user enters their username and password, then is connected to their environment over an encrypted connection.
  • No work data kept on the workstation: everything stays in the cloud environment.
  • Centralized workstation management, to replace or reassign a device quickly.

Technologies and approach

  • Kiosk / locked-down workstation
  • Secure gateway
  • Encrypted connection
  • Centralized management

Who is it for? Companies that want simple, interchangeable workstations closed to anything that isn’t work.

Operations & billing

3 projects
09Accounting · Tax

Automated accounting and end-to-end tax returns

The challenge

Processing a high volume of tax returns without losing track: documents to collect, preparation, review, payment and delivery, for each client.

What we built

  • A complete tax return journey, from document collection to delivery to the end client.
  • Payment is collected before delivery: the return is released automatically once payment is confirmed.
  • Dashboards for agents: files to process, awaiting the client, under review, paid.
  • Automation of repetitive accounting tasks and client reminders.

Technologies and approach

  • Workflows
  • Payment before delivery
  • Dashboards
  • Automated reminders
  • Client portal

Who is it for? Accounting firms and tax services that handle large volumes during peak season.

10Vehicle rental

Rental vehicle management

The challenge

A rental involves several people and several steps. Without a shared tool, information gets lost between agents, from the first request to customer handover.

What we built

  • A complete journey, from information gathering to the final quote and customer handover.
  • Assignment of files to teams and agents, with tracking of every step.
  • Management of fleet availability and reservations.
  • Documents and confirmations generated automatically at every key step.

Technologies and approach

  • Workflows
  • Team management
  • Fleet management
  • Document generation
  • Dashboards

Who is it for? Rental or fleet management companies that coordinate several agents around the same customer.

11Billing · Subscriptions

Recurring billing and contract management

The challenge

When a client adds or removes services along the way, the invoice must follow exactly, with the right terms, without manual calculation.

What we built

  • Every service the client subscribes to is automatically added to their recurring invoice.
  • Management of micro-products, add-ons and removals, with prorated calculation.
  • Terms, renewals and contracts managed in the same system as billing.
  • Integration with payments and accounting to close the loop.

Technologies and approach

  • Recurring billing
  • Contract management
  • Micro-products
  • Proration
  • Accounting integration

Who is it for? Providers of managed services, subscriptions or software that bill per unit and monthly.

Sound familiar?

Your situation may look like a project we have already delivered

These situations come up often. Pick the one that sounds like you to see what we built.

  • Your requests go through the office, the field and external systems, and nothing is connected all the way to invoicing.

  • Your financing and payments go through several providers that don’t talk to each other.

  • Your remote access (RDP) is exposed to the Internet.

  • You need to prove who did what in a sensitive environment.

  • You set up every client environment by hand.

  • Your invoices don’t keep up with services being added and removed.

Managed and hosted infrastructure

Fleets and environments we manage every day

How we deliver

From need to operations, the same team

Every project above followed the same approach. We don’t deliver software and then disappear: we host it, monitor it and keep it evolving.

  1. 01

    The real process

We start from how your team actually works, not from a theoretical specification.

  2. 02

    Architecture and integrations

The data model, APIs and integrations with your existing systems are defined before the first line of code.

  3. 03

    Secure development

Authentication, roles, encryption and audit logs are part of the design, not a last-minute add-on.

  4. 04

    Hosting and operations

Go-live in our data centres in Canada, monitoring, backups and continuous improvement.
